In honour of expertise and dedication in the field of scholarly publishing, the Editorial Teams of two prominent publications; Engineering, Construction, and Architectural Management (a Q1 Journal hosted by Emerald) and International Journal of Construction Management (a Q1 hosted by Taylor and Francis) have honoured Dr. Kofi Agyekum, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Construction Technology and Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi as the Outstanding Reviewer for the journals in the year 2022.
In addition to these two awards, Dr. Agyekum has been honoured by Cogent Engineering (A Q2 journal hosted by Taylor and Francis) as being part of their top reviewers in the last four years.
Kofi Agyekum (Ph.D.) holds BSc (Hons), MPhil, and Ph.D. degrees in Building Technology. His areas of expertise include Building Science, Building Engineering, and Building Materials, with a focus on Building biology, Circular Economy in construction, Sustainable and Green Buildings, Building Pathology, and Construction Health and Safety. He is actively involved in research and has published in top-ranked journals in construction-related disciplines. His research has received funding from the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.
Also, he serves as an External Examiner for the Central University of Technology and holds editorial positions in prestigious journals like the Journal of Engineering, Design and Technology and Academia Engineering. He is a member of reviewer boards for Buildings (a Q1 journal hosted by MDPI) and Smart and Sustainable Built Environment (A Q1 journal hosted by Emerald). Furthermore, he is a Detailed Assessor for the Australian Research Council.
Dr. Agyekum has a significant publication record, including co-authored and co-edited books, book chapters, journal papers, and conference proceedings. His work is featured in renowned journals such as Safety Science, Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice, Journal of Building Engineering, Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management, Sustainability, Smart and Sustainable Built Environment, International Journal of Construction Management, and Case Studies in Construction Materials. His research has a substantial impact and is highly regarded within the global scientific community, as evidenced by his high rankings on ResearchGate.
In 2021, Dr. Agyekum became the first Ghanaian resident academic to win three global Outstanding Peer Review Awards. Two of the awards were from the 2021 Emerald Literati Awards from the International Journal of Building Pathology and Adaptation and Construction Innovation. In 2018 and 2021, Dr. Agyekum was adjudged the Overall Best Senior Member in (Research and Publication) at the College of Art and Built Environment. His co-authored conference paper was ranked Highly in Sustainability and Practice at the SEEDS International Conference hosted by the LEEDS Beckett University in the UK in 2020. He is currently ranked by the World Scientific and University Ranking as the 41st Overall Best Scientist at KNUST and 168th Best Scientist across all disciplines in Ghana.
